Our Philosophy:

  • Trust and Transparency:
    • One of the biggest barriers to engaging with financial advisors is developing trust. Handing over your financial life to someone else can feel risky, especially if you're not sure whether they have your best interests in mind. Transparency around fees, commissions , and conflicts of interest is essential to build trust and the relationship.

  • Finding the Right Fit | Specialization and Expertise:
    • Financial planning often comes down to timing and fit. Not all planners are a good fit for everyone, including us. Some may specialize in areas that don't align with your needs, while others may not understand the unique financial challenges of your industry or career.
    • As a Biotech Executive/Professional, you might require a planner with experience in handling equity compensation, stock options, or tax planning for high income earners, or early retirement strategies. It can be difficult to find someone with both the expertise and personal approach that resonates with your goals and values, but is critical in order to to ensure you receive tailored advice to your situation.
      • For example, you may have significant exposure to your company stock, which requires careful analysis from a risk and tax perspective.
    • Every situation is unique, a personalized financial plan that accounts for your unique circumstances and future goals will more times than not be more effective than a generic approach. Understanding your complete financial picture and incorporating complex factors such as real estate holdings, stock options, or business interests into your customized financial plan is important.

  • Collaborative Partnership and Process | Long Term and Continuity:
    • If you've managed your own finances or investments for years, it can be difficult to relinquish some of that control to a third party. It can be difficult to strike a balance between delegation and personal involvement. Our goal is to be a collaborative partner and make sure you feel you are engaged and maintain understanding of your financial plan.
    • A financial planning relationship is ideally long term. Having confidence your financial plan will be managed consistently over time and can be adapted to your changes in your life, such as career shifts, retirement, generational wealth planning can provide more confidence and peace of mind in your plan.
    • Being Proactive, and not just Reactive, to your financial plan is also important to us. Especially as it relates to binary data readouts, black-out periods, 10b5-1 plans, and more.

  • Simplifying, Clarifying, and Organizing:
    • Financial planners can sometimes create complex and intricate plans that can be difficult for the average person to understand - which can lead to difficulty staying engaged with the process and following through on recommendations.
    • Our goal is to simplify, clarify, and organize your financial roadmap and help you implement the strategies you need to along the way. Financial planning is an ongoing process, and we understand the value is in the long term relationship.

  • Time Commitment and Communication:
    • The process of engaging with a financial planner can be time-consuming, especially in the beginning when a comprehensive financial assessment is being done. Regular communication and and meetings are necessary to stay on track and keep the plan up to date.
    • Busy Life Science Professionals may find it difficult to dedicate the time and resources necessary to properly engage with a financial planner. We pride ourselves on communication and helping you stay accountable to contributing to the time and energy to your financial planning. It is important to us to be accessible, responsive, and able to explain financial concepts in a way that is easy to understand for our clients.

  • Aligning Expectations:
    • Sometimes, there can be a gap between what clients and expect and what financial planners deliver. Misaligned expectations can lead to frustrations and an unsatisfactory relationship. We are intentional in making sure proper expectations are set and that there are more than enough opportunities to provide guidance and check-ins. This makes for a successful partnership, built on trust, transparency, and mutual understanding. Finding an advisor that understands your unique situation, communicates effectively, and aligns with your personal goals is key to creating a successful relationship.
    • As a Biotech Professional, you may have both personal and professional goals that intertwine with your financial life, such as planning for an early retirement, navigating stock options, or balancing business interests with personal wealth. A Financial Planner who understands your career trajectory, industry-specific challenges, and family aspirations will be better positioned to help you achieve holistic success.
